Trainee and Early Career (TEC) Social

Gather with colleagues for an evening of informal networking specifically for registered Trainee and Early career attendees from 8:30-10:00pm on Wednesday, 18 September at The Social Hub. The Hub is located in one of the city’s oldest and most stylish districts, famed for its medieval architecture, cafés, colourful street murals, and thriving music scene. This event is separate from the Conference and there is no cost to attend. Each attendee will receive one free drink token (wine, beer or a soft drink) and further refreshments can then be purchased. Details will be sent to all who register for the conference and this TEC event.
Discussion PODS
Date and Time: Friday, 20 September 2024 at 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Glasgow Social Hub, 15 Candleriggs Square, Glasgow G1 1TQ
This free event will allow trainees and those early in their careers to join discussion groups regarding areas of interest to them. The groups will be facilitated by one or more experienced professionals from different fields in paediatric ABI who will be able to share information as required or requested, but the session will also allow all attendees to discuss their plans and experiences.
Examples of ABI subtopics for the various discussion pods include perspectives on education, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, medical professions & ABI research. Each pod will address related professional development issues.
- Educational aspects: Beth Wicks (UK) and Sharon Grandinette (USA).
- Neuropsychology: Katie Byard (UK), Rebecca Slykerman (New Zealand) and Nina Marit Rohrer-Baumgartner (Norway)
(Topics could include professional development in clinical psychology/neuropsychology/neuro-rehabilitation; perspectives on neuropsychology delivery across different settings; research/evidence-based practice in clinical neuropsychology) - Occupational therapy: Nick Reed (Canada), Stacey Todd (UK)(Topics could include concussion care; building your network and developing partnerships; finding and securing research funding; building a team and research lab; neurorehab and early rehabilitation in an acute setting; post-traumatic amnesia, and other)
- Medical profession: Mathilde Chevignard (France), Frederike van Markus-Doornbosch (Netherlands), Eli Gunnarson (Sweden) (Topics could include brain injury types/etiologies; concussion; long term follow-up in oncology; organization of pathway of care for moderate-severe ABI; transition to adulthood; ecological assessment of executive functions; challenges in combining clinical work and research, and other)
- Research aspects in ABI: Linda Ewing-Cobbs (USA) and Vicki Anderson (Australia).
Please feel free to bring up questions or discussion points of your own – we aim to be flexible and allow discussions to develop in the group. Also, it will be possible for attendees to rotate and visit more than one discussion pod.
